Library

A class of fifth graders learn, walk, and read in the elementary school library.

Welcome to the Library!

Library classes are scheduled during a 6-day rotation.  During Library, students receive grade appropriate lessons on information literacy and district library standards, as well as, time to check out book!

CHECK OUT!

  • Kindergarteners can check out 1 book per 6 day rotation.
  • 1st thru 6th can check out 2 books per 6 day rotation.

 * Exception: If students need books to support classroom work, research, or projects...they are allowed up to 5 books per student.

Library books should be returned the day of library. Students will bring their books with them to Library at their scheduled time.

HOURS OF OPERATION:

  • During the day, students are welcome to use the Library independently if the lights are on!  While we may have a class, students are welcome, with approval from their classroom teacher, to return, renew, and check out books.
  • If the lights are off, that means the Library is closed because Mrs. Foster and Mrs. Randazzo are on lunch duty or having lunch. Students may not enter the Library if lights are off due to safety concerns.

Library Schedule

Students in Kindergarten through Sixth grade visit the Library once every six days.  During their scheduled time they receive a lesson and time to check out books.

Schedule will be posted soon!

Book are due back the day of their scheduled Library class.  Students cannot check out a new book if they have overdue books or lost books. Books must be returned or paid for before any additional books can be checked out.

Students are encouraged to select a "safe spot" at home in which to safely place their books.

Birthday Book Club

Overview

Birthday Book Club are the most happily anticipated days of the months for our students. What is not to LOVE about making kids happy and building our library? What is Birthday Book Club?
Student birthdays – each and every one – will be celebrated in the Library. The program is designed to engage students in the joy of reading, support the growth of our library, and celebrate the special day of every student at Fulton.  As fun as classroom parties may be, student education is our top priority at Fulton. By celebrating birthdays in the Library, instructional time remains intact and every child gets a celebration. It’s a win/win situation!

How does it work?
Each month, the Library will throw a party for all children who have a birthday during that month. Students will bring home an invitation a couple of weeks prior to their celebration date so families will be alerted. If parents choose to make a minimum $15 donation (more is very welcome), the child will get to participate in the Book Club part of the celebration. At the party, he/she will choose from a selection of new books selected by our librarian. A bookplate is then permanently affixed to the book with your child’s name showing his/her contribution to the Fulton Library. Also, your child will be the first to check out this book! Once the book is returned, it will be added to our Library for all to enjoy. While we hope everyone chooses to donate a book, be assured that all children will celebrate with treats and fruit regardless of donation.

Don’t worry, we don't forget the summer birthdays!

What can you do to help us celebrate?

1. Return the form on the invitation. We will need your donation as soon as possible to cover the cost of the new books.

2. Donate treats, fruit, and/or water for the celebrations, thru the Sign Up Genius link provided on the invitation

3. Volunteer at the party to serve refreshments and affix book plates. You can volunteer for all the celebrations or just the morning or afternoon.  Sign up thru the Sign Up Genius.

4. We are not welcoming visitors this year, if you choose to volunteer please ensure you intend to stay and help during that entire period.

We welcome questions, and we thank you for supporting Fulton Library.
